Back to civilization after the big wedding/honeymoon trip. I’m not going to post many details now but here’s the quick recap:
Wedding in Vail … so perfect. It was great to see all my friends and family in one place.. felt like a giant party. And it was an awesome party. The whole weekend was unreal – laid back yet elegant, tuxedos and dinner parties combined with trail running, beer and swimming in the river. And of course I had the honor of marrying the most wonderful, beautiful girl in the world … atop Vail mountain in perfect weather.
Then the honeymoon. We took off the day after the wedding and drove to Creede, CO. From there we hiked about 170 miles back to our car in Leadville along the Colorado Trail. Took about 12 days including ~ days of rest in Salida. We experience everything from alpine tundra to lush river valleys to sagebrush to pine forests and aspen-covered hills. We sweat in the blazing summer-esque hot sun, slogged through soaking 33F rain storms and hiked through the first snowstorm of the season. We got our “Trail Zen” on and experienced beauty of the world in a way that is so far removed from our typical everyday existence. Challenging in all the ways that “real life” is relaxing, Relaxed in all the ways that “real life” stresses you out – you are not merely seeing these amazing places but are experiencing them. It was a perfect honeymoon for Jos and I – challenging yet amazingly serene and an experience we will both remember vividly for the rest of our lives.
The pictures don’t do it justice but …
More details to come.
